This volume brings together fourteen essays on improvised poetry and forms of poetic contrast in areas ranging from Sardinia to Corsica, from Italy to Argentina. Linguists, ethnomusicologists, literary historians, anthropologists and philosophers tackle different performance practices, offering valuable analyses and reflections on the subtle aesthetic and rhetorical balances that fuel extemporaneous experiences in specific historical and cultural contexts. Most of the essays are devoted to Sardinian extemporaneous poetry.
